Twenty-three years on the south shore of Lake Travis
Absolute Water Solutions opened in 2003 and has been based in Spicewood ever since. Bret runs the company today the way it has always run: one team that tests the water, writes the estimate, does the install and comes back when the system needs service. In twenty-three years that team has completed over 1,000 projects across Travis, Burnet, Hays, Blanco, Williamson and Llano counties, and every one of them was done by our own crews.
Why Spicewood is a good place to learn water
Spicewood sits on a boundary. To the east, the Lake Travis communities (Briarcliff, Lakeway, Bee Cave, Lago Vista, on into Austin) drink limestone lake water delivered by a dozen different utilities, most of which do not soften it and many of which disinfect with chloramine. To the west and south, Dripping Springs, Johnson City, Round Mountain and much of Spicewood itself run on private wells drilled into the Trinity and Ellenburger aquifers: very hard, often carrying iron or sulfur, sometimes sediment after a hard rain, occasionally bacteria that nobody will find unless the owner tests for it. A few homes around the lake pump raw water straight from Lake Travis or Lake LBJ under an LCRA contract, and a growing number collect rainwater.
That mix is why we never learned to sell a package. A softener sized for a Cedar Park subdivision is the wrong answer for a Blanco County well with iron and low pH, and the catalytic carbon a Lakeway home needs for chloramine is wasted money on a well that has never seen chlorine. Working out of Spicewood meant seeing all of those on the same week, year after year, and building the habit of testing before recommending.
The test comes first
Every job we do starts with a water test: in your home for the basics, and at a lab for wells, lake intakes and anything the in-home test cannot see. We sit down with you and explain what the numbers mean: what is a health question, what is a nuisance, and what is not worth treating at all. Then we size the equipment to the water and to the household that will use it. If the right answer is one stage instead of four, the estimate says one stage.
One license, one crew
Texas licenses water treatment specialists through the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, and Absolute Water Solutions holds TCEQ Water Treatment license WT001370. The company is insured. Those two facts matter more than they sound: an installer who is tapping into your main line, tying into a drain and wiring a control valve should be licensed for that work, and the company should be insured. We are, and the people in your home are ours. We do not broker jobs out to whoever is available that week.
Homes and businesses
Much of our work is residential: softeners, whole-house filtration, reverse osmosis at the kitchen sink, UV on wells, iron and sulfur systems in the Hill Country. We also serve commercial properties that need reliable water for their equipment and their customers, on the same terms: test, size, install to code, maintain.
Getting started
Call (512) 587-8188 or use the Get Free Estimate form, and we will set up a visit during business hours (Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm). Bring your questions and, if you have one, a copy of your utility's water quality report or a past well test. We will bring the test kit.
